12th International Penguin Conference - 2026
I consider myself to be one of the luckiest women in the world to have visited the Royal Penguin colony at Sandy Bay on Macquarie Island three times - in 2011, 2020 and 2026. Over that time frame I have seen changes in the penguin behaviour when exposed to human (tourist) interaction. I casually commented on this to a fellow traveller and it was suggested I should report this. On return I discovered that this amazing triennial conference will be held here in Australia on Phillip Island from the 31st August to the 4th September. Not ever believing they would want to hear from an amateur "citizen scientist" in the midst of hundreds of experts, I submitted an abstract. But they did ! So here we go - and for the sake of the penguins I love so much, let's hope all goes well!
Purpose of this Page
As part of my presentation I am required to create a poster ( a new skill for me) with a QR code linking to a site with additional documents and images. So that is the reason for Penguintragik to come into being. After the conference I will put up my poster for those interested. As for the future of Penguintragik - let's see where events lead us...
